With cameras and microphones wired throughout his house, MIT researcher Deb Roy started a journey. The journey? Trying to understand how his infant son learned language.

Recording roughly 8-10 hours a day over the course of 3 plus years, Roy collected 90,000 hours of home video (and I thought my mom was bad). Using an array of methodologies including motion analysis, Roy and his trusted research team at MIT picked apart and re-pieced the data in an attempt to understand the influence of social environments on language acquisition.
