Road into Burning Man

Road into Burning Man

Less than one week to go! Then, once again, I’ll be traveling down the road you see in this accompanying photo to one of the more interesting participatory events in urban planning, or is it cultural anthropology? Choose your own tag, it really dosen’t matter.

Regardless, I’m off this upcoming weekend for a week and a half to the desert of Nevada to particpate in the Buring Man festival in Black Rock City, Nevada. A city of 50,000 created for eight days and nights, then nothing once again until next year… A city with two radio stations and a newspaper that’s delivered. A DPW; post office; and airport where jets land. Streets laid out in orderly fashion amid, well, whatever may happen.

This is one of the big Pietri dishes where future trends grow, and it sure beats a Labor Day cookout!
